The objective of this study is to show that the usual practice for apple storage, carried out in packing houses, is effective in eradicating the presence of Ceratitis capitata in fruits. This finding is interesting in view of the implications it may have for the international fruit trade. To sum up, this work shows that cold storage at a temperature below 2.2°C for eighteen days guarantees the absence of live insects after the treatment.
