Heterodera carotae, the carrot cyst nematode, is a pest that attacks Apiaceae, especially carrots. It is present in many carrot producing countries. In France, it is mainly found in the production areas of the northwest, more speci ically in sandy soils. It is characterised by rapid multiplication and is accompanied by uncharacteristic damage which induces yield losses that can be very severe. This pest has been studied for many years in carrot production and has been brought to the fore again by the recent regulatory changes concerning it. The approaches put forward are levers requiring a combination of measures in a rather systemic approach to production.
